Time spent in the city studying, volunteering and living with a Tanzanian family or at a hostel is combined with opportunities to explore the National Parks as well as the urban environment of Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar which is 75 minutes away by boat.The focus of Rununu Volunteers is to introduce Afrikans living in America to East Afrika, its culture, language, food, tourist attractions, and interactions with young adults in Tanzania..
Towards the end of their tenure as volunteers, we will organize excursions and immersion programs for our volunteers to travel and experience the wild (national parks), villages (e.g. Maasai village) in Tanzania. Our volunteers will fund the budget to cover expenses for their trips and accommodation during excursions/tours
Potential independent excursions (the longest travel to these excursions being about 4 hours):
i. City tour with an official guide of local history
ii. visit of historical sites like Kilwa Kivinje and Masoko
iii. Dar es Salaam Museum and zoo
iv. Zanzibar (the Spice Islands)
v. Visit to Bagamoyo, Kaole ruins
vi. Saadani National Park
vii. A fun day in Bongoyo island in Dar es Salaam
